France’s capital several times through its history, Touraine – a land criss-crossed by the wild Loire – has a whole host of surprises in store for you, through its landscapes, villages and famous châteaux open to visitors:

- Château d’Azay le Rideau, Gizeux, Langeais, Luynes, Villandry and countless others.

Why not pay a visit to the Zoo de la flèche, the Lake in Hommes for a spot of bathing, the Lake in Rillé and Château-la-Vallière for bird-watching fans – or stretch your legs along the various footpaths.

A stone’s throw from the B&B, golfing enthusiasts can enjoy honing their swing at Château des Sept Tours, in a magnificent setting.

And right in our little village of Souvigné, don’t forget to go and see an original bandstand and the 19th century wash-house. Other activities on offer include going for a ride along the Loire à vélo cycle paths or flying over the Loire châteaux in a hot-air balloon.

But your stay in Touraine just wouldn’t be the same without sampling our delicious local fare. On top of the famous Sainte Maure de Touraine goat’s cheese, you simply must have a taste of pork rillons, géline de Touraine chicken and coq au vin – all washed down with the local wines that bring out the best of their flavours, including Chinon, Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil, Saumur-Champigny and Vouvray. And there a thousand and one other delights that will only leave you wanting to come back for more!
